Social Art Ireland in collaboration with the Galway Fringe Festival 2017 will be Exhibiting at the Loughrea School of Art 58A Main Street Loughrea Co. Galway July 15th to July 30th.
The exhibition opening will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 14.
Art Therapists will be presenting an information day about the benefits of Art Therapy from 11 am to 4 pm and will be available to answer any questions that you may have regarding Art Therapy. The exhibition is an opportunity to showcase a different dimension for the use of art as a therapeutic intervention for Mental Health difficulties. Art also provides a method for personal growth and understanding through different types of activities incorporating a type mindfulness called the “creative process” which can promote well-being.
This exhibition is a collection of three art therapist’s own creative process art, created during training and in a reflective practice. These images were created to help understand emotions & explore difficult issues. They were not created to be viewed or valued as works of art. They can be messy, and ugly and made with many different materials. Art skills are not necessary when using “Art as Therapy.” Come and see how this type of visual aid can help you gain insight into our own inner world.
Social Art Ireland promotes the use of Art & Creativity as a form of psychotherapy for mental health problems and personal development.
